Madie Beckum

My name is Madie Beckum, and I am from Marietta, Georgia. I am a second-year student at the University of Georgia pursuing a major in Advertising, a minor in Communications, and a certificate in New Media.

I seek to fuse my creative skills and technical abilities into a career that allows me to showcase it all. Through my time already at UGA, I have completed courses that have grown my knowledge and skill set which can be applied to whatever I choose to do in the future.

I have a lasting passion for art, technology, and design, therefore the plan that I have created for graduation has set me up to grow in all three areas. I am thrilled to see how my education and skills translate into a career.

Advertising

I am pursuing a major in advertising due to its versatility, creative nature, and structure. I wanted to choose something creative because art has always been an important part of my life. I appreciate that advertising offers a mix of courses that challenge me both intellectually and creatively, and I feel strongly that it is steering me toward a valuable and fulfilling career.

Minor

Communications

When deciding on a minor, it was important to consider one that could enrich my relationships, increase my employability, and prepare me for the professional world, and I believe communications is just that. I look forward to building communication skills and obtaining knowledge about the fundamentals of communication, as it will help me to be a better student and employee

Certificate

New Media

This certificate is not one I would have ever thought to pursue, but once being introduced to it, I was immediately intrigued. New Media has challenged me in ways I would have never imagined, and has, in turn, equipped me with invaluable skills and knowledge that can be applied to all technical aspects of my education, career, and life.
